XJ40.com meeting in Beaulieu (New Forest, September 2014)
This is page 4 of the illustrated report on the xj40.com meeting in Beaulieu, September 2014
The people
I tried to compile a list with all XJ40's present in Beaulieu. But I also wanted to remember which car is which and to whom it belongs. In the end I posted the list with all attendees, including XJ40 type, paint colour, trim colour, registration, owner and xj40.com user name on the forum. It is on the last page of this story, but let me first post some photos of the people in Beaulieu and on the next page photos of the XJ40s.
Some people near the circle of XJ40s that was set up around the car of the winner of the show, Derek's solent blue Daimler 4 litre. You will notice those people also in the next pictures.
Some people awaiting the jugdment of the jury. From left to right as far as I know: Jack and Graham, Rory, Derek with some family of him, Simon C., Anne-Marie, children of Simon, Leo.
Derek and before him the friend of ?, ladies of Derek, Kieran and Jessica, head of the Beaulieu Jury, a laughing Pim, Peter taking a picture, Roel, Cassandra (friend of Pim), Naki and Chris C.
Simon C., Naki and Kieran and Jessica, who were there even while their XJ40 unexpectedly did not pass the MOT three days before. Great!
Rens, Simon, Naki and Ant.
Simon and Chris and his friend Tom. Chris used to have an XJ40, but couldn't attend with an XJ40.
Rory with his Daimler and Jack and Ant.
Naki, Peter and Derek.
Florian, Peter, Rens and Chris and Tom. Car is mine, with the cream interior.
The jury inspecting Derek's Daimler 4.0 in solent blue and saville grey leather. When three men from Beaulieu took ages to inspect my Daimler Double Six, asked me about the history and did not believe that the impeccable cream autolux leather and burr walnut was as old as the car, I for a minute thought that I would be awarded something. But no, Derek's is more impeccable without doubt, in particular my paint is not.
Without doubt, Leo and Anne-Marie travelled furthest. Almost 350 litre of fuel, my god! (I will leave pictures of the award ceremony out, others posted them.)
Florian and Nicole with their Daimler Double Six in morocco red and magnolia. A few days later, this car was totally lost by a heavy fire under the dashboard. Awfull. See topic elsewhere.
Clive and Chris W. arrived later. Naki and Clive with Clive's DD6.
Ant and Chris W. with Simon T.'s XJ12.
Chris C. was delighted, not to say flabbergasted, by viewing so many XJ40s collected. He (left) got an award from Roel (right).
After the meeting, some of us had a great time in the Drift Inn, between Beaulieu and Lyndhurst. First photo this side: Roel, Leo, Florian, Naki, Ant, other side: Cassandra, Anne-Marie, Nicole (Florian's wife), Kieran, Chris W. and me (Rens).
