4 May 2017 IntroductionIt was for the tenth time that Florian Granzeier and his wife Nicole organised a meeting for Jaguar enthusiasts in Jork, a small village 20 km West of Hamburg in northern Germany. End of April this area, also known als Das Altes Land, is famous for the blossoms of its multitude of orchards. Mainly German Jaguar enthusiasts attend this meeting and, although Florian is primarily a fan of the XJ40, we see al kinds of Jaguar here, from rather old to almost new. This time, Florian arranged it to be a meeting were the Jaguar-Online-Club meets the XJ40.com club. Inspired by the tremendous atmosphere of the August 2016 meeting in Dunkeld (Scotland), extensively described on my web page, several foreign owners of an XJ40 wanted to tribute to Florian's jubilee by attending with their XJ40, the model Florian likes most of all Jaguars. From the UK we had two XJ40s: Carl and Florence with their bordeaux red Daimler 4.0 and Luke and Les with Luke's 3.2S. From Denmark Errol and Lene brought their savoy grey Daimler 4.0 and Leo and Anne-Marie their … no, not their XJ40 but Leo's newly acquired 1977 westminster blue XJ-S V12. From The Netherlands Pim and Cassandra came with their miraculously peppermint coloured Sovereign Insignia 4.0 and Sabine and me took our solent blue Daimler Double Six. Then we had a Swiss guest coming by plane: Simon. It was nice to speak to him, not only for Pim who met for the first time the man who he had cooperated with so closely in the production of the Dunkeld 30 Years of XJ40 book, but also for me because Simon noticed I had an interest in typography as well. You would possibly not expect it, but the second photo on the right for me characterises the atmosphere of the Jork meeting best! Four women enjoying the friendship and atmosphere: Anne-Marie, Sabine, Cassandra and Florence. Add Nicole and Martina and for me the image is complete. I had nice talks with several people. To name a few: with Michael on organs and the new organ of the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. With Andreas on his F-Type and the way tax aspects of company cars work in Germany but also on his antique Volvo lorry he uses for his company! With Florian on his joinery. With Simon on typography, the Gill Sans in the XJ40 book and the Palatino on my website, on website typography and bad software policy. With Carsten on his jobs and with Martina on the solution of the weird stalling of her Daimler V8 back in 2015 and on several other things. Nice! On the other hand, I did not speak to several people I met in 2015, pity. For me it was less of an open bonnet and Jaguar talk meeting than previous occasions, but I did not experience that as a drawback. The programmeFlorian and Nicole organised a well elaborated programme mit deutsche Gründlichkeit.
The Jaguars present in JorkI did not do my best to compile a list with all Jaguars present in Jork. Many of them were there in 2015 and back then I listed them here. But as far as I can see, also using Florian's programme:
That's 23 Jaguars in total, plus the XJ40 Daimler Hearse and XJ81 Daimler Double Six on Florian's premises. What's next?On the next page is a report consisting of a small selection of Sabine's and my photographs with short texts. The last page contains an album of the full selection of 180+ photos.
